Witness and dashcam appeal following fatal collision in Ferndown

Officers are appealing for witnesses or any motorists with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a fatal collision in Ferndown.

On Friday 11 September 2026 at around 1pm, a collision occurred between a beige Nissan Qashqai and a blue Range Rover on the westbound carriageway of the A31 approaching Ameysford roundabout.

The collision was not reported to Dorset Police at the time of the incident as it was initially not believed any parties involved had sustained any injuries and no police assistance was required.

On Sunday 13 September 2026, a passenger of the Qashqai – a man aged in his 80s from the Eastleigh area in Hampshire – became seriously unwell and sadly died in hospital on Sunday 20 September. Dorset Police were made aware of the collision by HM Coroner for Hampshire on Wednesday 23 September.

Police Constable Jack Honnywill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family, friends and loved ones of the man who sadly died.

“We are carrying out enquiries as we seek to establish the full circumstances of this collision, and I would urge any witnesses to please contact us.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who was travelling in the vicinity and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.”
